Wings of Freedom sculpture
Airport Gdansk
The "Wings of Freedom" monument was created to honour President of Poland Lech Wałęsa, and was funded by the Mayors of Gdańsk, Sopot, and Gdynia. This monumental sculpture is 3.5 m in height, with a wing span of 6.5 m, and a weight of 3.5 tonnes. It was made from molten, and hot-formed art glass. The metal skeleton conceals additional lighting which illuminates the sculpture from within, making it a sight to see at night.
